Service and Parts FAQ

Our Service Department is open from Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm. Please note that we are closed from 12nn to 1 pm daily.

Routine vehicle maintenance is the preventive maintenance works in order to keep small issues from getting large and expensive. This includes changing your oil and oil filter, checking tires, inspecting all fluids, examining belts and hoses to ensure that your vehicle remains in safe working condition.

These are the top 10 most common car services -
(1) Oil/Oil Filter Change
(2) Wiper Blades Replacement
(3) Air Filter Replacement
(4) Scheduled Maintenance
(5) New Tires
(6) Battery Replacement
(7) Brake Work
(8) Antifreeze added
(9) Engine Tune-up
(10) Wheel Balance/Alignment

The basic rule is every 8,000 km or 6 months, whichever occurs first. These days, most new vehicles now pop a light on the dashboard reminding you that your car is due for a service.

Tire rotation is important to extend the life of your tires and to ensure your safety on the road. When tire rotation is performed at scheduled times, it will preserve balanced handling and traction, and also promote even tread wear.

Low charge and acid stratification are the most common causes of auto battery failure.

As soon as you notice a difference in driving visibility or every six months to a year, wiper blades should be replaced. Wiper blades can begin to squeak, chatter, skip, smear or streak when they no longer make proper contact with the windshield surface.

To make your blades last longer, you can do the following -
(1) Park your car in place with shade
(2) When it snows, lift your wiper blades
(3) Don’t scrape your windshield with the blades down
(4) Clean your wiper blades with washer fluid
(5) Don’t operate your wipers when they’re dry

Conventional or traditional wiper blades are designed with only six to eight contact points while beam wiper blades have an infinite number of pressure points which ensure that the entire length of the wiper blade will remain in contact with the windshield.

No, wipers are not designed the same way. There are 2 kinds of blades - the conventional and beam blades.

To know when you need new brakes, you can do these - look and listen. To check for wear, look at your brake pads through the spaces between the wheel’s spokes. The outside pad will be pressed against a metal rotor and there should be at least ¼ inch of pad. If you see the pad to be less than ¼ inch, then you should have your brake pads inspected or changed. If you regularly hear a high-pitched screeching sound when you apply your brake, then you should also make an appointment with your service advisor.

It is time to change your brake pads when the lining is in the 3mm to 4mm range. Brake pads also incorporate a metal burr that contacts the rotor at 3mm which causes a squeal that signals that you need to have your brake pads replaced.

Most brake pads typically last between 48,280 km to 112,654 kilometers.

We recommend that you get an oil change every 6 months or every 8,000 kilometers interval.

Here are our recommendations regarding the frequency of checking your vehicle’s fluid levels -
• Oil - Check every 8,000 kilometers.
• Windshield Wiper Fluid - Check every month. If it is less than ¼ full, top it off.
• Brake Fluid - Check fluid levels based on the manual, or at least once a year.
• Coolant - Coolant helps ensure that your engine does not overheat when you are driving. You can easily check this by checking under the hood, although recommended is every 3 years
• Transmission Fluid - Check at least once a year. This fluid should be clear pink. If you notice any darkness on its colour, you should have it changed.
• Battery fluid - Keep an eye on the colour of your battery’s fluid to ensure that it is still in good condition. Most batteries have a condition indicator that changes colour based on fluid quality - Blue/Green - good, Red - add distilled water, White - needs to be changed.

You should change your air filter every 20,000 km or once a year. If you are driving mostly on city or dusty roads, we recommend that you change it more often.

Car battery can be worn down as early as 3 years so we recommend that you have it checked after 3 years.

When buying a battery, here are some things that you should consider - battery size, cold cranking amps (CCA), and reserve capacity. The battery size should have the best fit on the physical dimensions of your vehicle. CCA is critical for good cranking ability. Reserve capacity helps to power your vehicle’s electrical system in case your alternator fails.

Tires should be rotated at least every 8,000 km mileage or every 6 months to ensure that all tires wear evenly and last longer.

The recommended tire pressure is usually listed in a sticker inside the driver’s door. If there’s no sticker on the driver’s door, you can find the specs in the owner’s manual. Most cars have 32 to 35 psi in the tires when they’re cold.

If the check engine light is on, check if the car is driving any differently than normal. If nothing seems out of the ordinary, you may continue driving but have your engine checked as soon as possible.

Vehicles equipped with automated driver assist systems such as lane assist and collision avoidance require re-calibration. On average, it takes about 3 hours to replace and calibrate plus a recommended 2 hour dry time for the adhesives to set.

OEM glass stands for original equipment manufacturer glass. It is fabricated by the same manufacturer that produced the original glass the automaker placed in your vehicle. It has a special automaker branding on it. We replace windshields on most makes and models. On Ford and Honda vehicles, we use OEM windshields.

You can drive your car 2 hours after the glass has been replaced and calibrated. In case additional time is required, we will let you know.
